Fri, April 14, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Floor: Level 2, Ontario

Abstract

This non-experimental study describes the development and piloting of a tool designed to center school district policy and initiative development, planning, and implementation with a lens centered on equity. This research describes the development, piloting, and refinement of an equity tool, how this equity tool is used to impact and support decisions made at the district and school level and reveals policy and programmatic themes emerged from an analysis of the tool’s documented use. Findings were generated based upon the five themes around the possible strengths and pitfalls of district and school level policies that can help district educators proactively plan to ensure all learners and educators benefit from the policies, programs, and decisions that they make.
