Makerspaces afford collaborative practices where learners can create, tinker, invent and learn by making. The article aims to contribute to the understanding of sociomaterial relations in making, which can inform the design of socio-technical learning spaces that foster creativity. In this study, we examine how sociomaterial conversations influence the creative processes and products, when novice makers engage in design problem-solving. We specifically look at data from a maker activity-centered workshop to argue the distributive nature of creative making. Our analysis suggests that exploring material properties, and transformative use of materials can augment creative making actions.
