Abstract

This paper reports on a critical participatory action research project in which rural queer and trans educators (co-researchers) work to effect transformative social change in PK-12 professional networks. In this paper, we share our process of using a newly constructed analytical framework based on Emergent Strategy (brown, 2017) to analyze meeting videos from our research. Aiming to queer the lens through which we examined our own action, we adapted Emergent Strategy as a theoretical framework to critically reflect on the values we embody in our research. We overview the non-linear, adaptive process of applying this theory of social action into practice, and discuss how co-researchers translated Emergent Strategy principles directly into action steps to support rural queer and trans educators.
