Abstract

This paper details a usability study as part of a joint effort between a major university and a leading publishing company in optimizing the learning experience of an online CPA review course for an upcoming major system update. In specific, the study was conducted across two phases using various user experience design and learning experience design methods. In Phase I, an expert review was conducted to identify and classify usability issues. In Phase II, user testing was employed for a more in-depth evaluation. Preliminary analysis from both phases revealed that although the current learning management system is able to foster user engagement with the emulated exam system, issues related to usability present potential barriers for an optimal learning experience.
