The purpose of the current study was to examine influence of principals’ authentic leadership, teachers’ organizational identification and perceived organizational support on teachers’ job engagement and commitment. The Social Exchange and Objective Self-awareness theories guided the study. A causal comparative research designs was employed and samples consisted of 192 teachers and 17 school principals in a southeastern state. Findings showed that while teachers’ organizational identification and teachers’ perceived organizational support significant predictors of teachers’ job engagement and commitment, principals’ authentic leadership did not have any significant influence on either variable. Further analyses shed light on the cause of non-significant influence of authentic leadership by portraying the presence of an in-congruence between principal and teacher rating of principal authentic leadership.
