Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) is an effective methodology for engaging students as change partners within their school contexts. Yet we sometimes lack effective indicators of the impact of YPAR on teacher critical orientation and school culture. Computer Science LISTEN YPAR situates student voices as central to identifying previously unrecognized issues impacting student experiences in computer science (CS) pathways transforming the “banking model” of education into a didactic educational experience. CS-LISTEN places students at the center of examining the problem of underrepresentation in CS pathways through a National Science Foundation-funded Researcher-Practitioner Partnership (RPP). By engaging student co-researchers (SCRs), CS-LISTEN seeks to understand how youth voice can assist in broadening the participation of marginalized students.
