Putting Faith in Inclusivity: Are Catholic Teachers and Leaders Prepared to Educate Students With Disabilities?

Abstract

This paper presents data from the quantitative phase of a mixed-methods study of the preparedness of teachers and leaders to serve students with disabilities in Catholic education settings. While there has been an increased focus on inclusivity in Catholic schools, including conceptual work in this area, to date, there has been little to no academic research on the capacity of Catholic schools to serve this complex student population. Our findings suggest a discrepancy between the preparedness of teachers and leaders and lack of support to do the work systemically.
