Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) on K-12 students’ motivation through meta-analysis. We collected 77 articles published between 2010 and 2022, and analyzed a total of 10 primary studies with 37 effect sizes for this work-in-progress study. The results showed that AR interventions on K-12 students’ motivation had a moderate effect size (ES = 0.440). Moderator analyses showed that secondary school students had larger effects than primary school students. Also, interventions targeting subject matter as History, location-based AR intervention, mixed learning environment, and project-based learning had larger effects than other types of interventions.
