This study presents the design and implementation of an integrated STEM robotic curriculum, which was guided by problem-based learning, for integrating computational thinking in 3rd and 4th grades science learning. PBL has been promoted as a means of supporting students to acquire scientific inquiry skills; however, there are gaps in the knowledge base of the strategies actually used by learners. The purpose of this study was to gain insights into the problem-solving experience of students from Grade 3 (N = 62 from three classes) and Grade 4 (N = 86 from four classes) in an elementary school located in a large, suburban school district in the Midwest. Data, including classroom observation and interview transcripts, were analyzed using a qualitative approach.
