This paper focuses on the experiences of seven education students in the New York City area during the 2020-2021 academic year, when COVID-19 restrictions resulted in solely online learning. A fully mixed four-phase sequential dominant-status interactive design was used, wherein Phase 1 (survey) both informed and was informed by Phase 3 (focus group discussion, individual interview). Phase 3 yielded the following themes: Institutional Support, Home Environment, Home Support, Professional Development, Mental Health, and Coping Strategies—of which Mental Health was the most prevalent. Cross-case analyses pertaining to the Mental Health theme revealed some antecedent variables from both Phase 1 (e.g., year of study) and Phase 3 (e.g., level of Institutional Support, Coping Strategies). These and other findings will be discussed.
