Abstract

During a six-year period, two teacher researchers from diverse public school settings formed a partnership to investigate students’ multimodal learning representations. They aimed to embrace and disrupt notions about socio-cultural practices as seen in their students’ multimodal learning representations. They also desired to understand where they aligned or contradicted with their students’ perceptions of identity, race, gender, and culture. The authors’ combined efforts brought forth an examination of how the different functions, forms, and modes of multimodal learning representations can evolve and hone teaching practices, beliefs, and research processes.
