Sat, April 15, 9:50 to 11:20am CDT (9:50 to 11:20am CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

In the past few years, Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability according to the World Bank (2022). Even so, the country is not achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for education and gender equality, where less that 46% of females are literate (United Nations, 2019; World Bank, 2022). No study has examined the status of women in kindergarten through undergraduate educational leadership until now. Eight female kindergarten-undergraduate educational leaders from Lahore addressed, “What are the progress, successes, and challenges of women in educational leadership?” Findings reveal themes of persistence and resilience in the face of cultural and societal norms and the importance of school as a “safe haven” for girls to thrive in education and for women to lead.
