Abstract

In this study, we present the findings of a study that employed a contemporary pedagogical approach known as interteaching in a large online undergraduate mathematics class. Researchers have shown benefits of interteaching including content retrieval, mastery-based learning and fostering a community in the classroom. Through statistical analysis of student performance and qualitative analysis of interviews with teaching assistants, we found that interteaching activities played a significant role in students’ motivation to learn mathematics during unprecedented times and provided a space to learn together with peers.
