Abstract

In the face of COVID-19 outbreak and its associated risks, ethical considerations are urgently needed, with specific attention given to vulnerable children and families. The aim of this study was to investigate how kindergarten teachers act out their agentic practices by providing additional support for these vulnerable groups. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten kindergarten teachers. Three vignettes were derived from the interview data producing evidence on the importance of kindergarten teachers’ professional accountability when responding to the ethical challenges faced during the suspension of classes. Findings of this study contribute to promote critical reflection by inviting kindergarten teachers to revisit their ethical responsibilities and to discuss the development of more focused strategies for vulnerable children.
