Abstract

The Project MALES Student Mentoring Programs’ success stems from its intentional programming efforts to provide Latino/a undergraduate student mentors the opportunity to develop a critical consciousness and enhance their learning outcomes and success. We present a qualitative case study exploring the undergraduate mentor’s experiences within the Project MALES Student Mentoring Program and their training through the IMPACT (Instructing Males through Peer Advising College Tracks) service-learning course. Our study suggests that Latino/a undergraduate mentors benefit from their involvement as mentors, specifically in their interpersonal development and career trajectories.
