Research suggests that School Counseling programs are inconsistent in their implementation of data-based decision-making as a core competency for School Counselors (NOSCA, 2011). Studies show opportunities to expand secondary School Counselors’ roles to include use of data analysis toward program improvement by measuring student outcomes. This qualitative study sought to understand the successes and shortcomings of the Western Association of College Admissions Counseling (WACAC) District Directions program. This study informs researchers on the importance of professional learning offerings for School Counselors as a program evaluation resource and to support setting measurable goals, analyzing data about the college process, and changing the way they implement programs as an outcome of that data analysis.
