Abstract

This study uncovers Black women HBCU presidents who were the first to serve at their institutions’, intersectional experiences and provides understanding regarding HBCU organizational cultures and how Black women leaders negotiate and navigate these institutions. Major findings address the impact of president-board relations, the hypervisibility/invisibility, and racialized gender politics as organizational culture.
