Modeling Multidimensionality in Educator Well-Being: A Person-Centered Approach (Poster 28)

Sun, April 16, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower - Exhibit Level, Riverside West Exhibition Hall

Abstract

Educators in the United States face increasing occupational stress and rising levels of burnout and attrition (Hamilton et al., 2020; Ryan et al., 2017). Stress has become the leading reason that educators report wanting to quit the profession (Diliberti et al., 2020). Although research focusing on educators’ emotions has increased in recent years, studies that examine the multi-faceted richness and complexity of educator well-being are limited. Across three studies, we conducted a latent profile analysis using a newly developed multi-dimensional measure of education well-being. We found that a five-profile solution roughly replicated across all three studies. Future research will examine demographic differences in profiles, as well as proximal and distal outcomes.
