This qualitative paper (N=15) offers a reexamination of the motivations for college-going Black students at 4-year public universities. This work utilized Bridging Multiple Worlds (BMW) Theory and Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Education as a fundamental basis for discussion of worlds (or spaces) that affect Black student experiences both directly and indirectly during their time at the university. A series of interviews revealed truths about students' schooling experiences, offering new ways to remedy college transitioning and reinforce why education matters to Black college students. These narratives provide a new layer of understanding about Black college student journeys, the impact of supportive networks as young people, and the continued nurturing of students’ minds and affirming of their identity.
