Abstract

Peers play a vital role in students' success in higher education, and the influence that these individuals have on their counterparts affects how students navigate the postsecondary environment (Mayhew et al., 2016). Through the established relationship between mentors and mentees, peer-mentoring programs have been seen as beneficial resources facilitating first-year students' integration into collegiate life (Budge, 2006; Crisp & Cruz, 2009; Flores & Estudillo, 2018). In this study, we examine the potential effects of a peer-mentoring program designed to assist first-generation college students through their transition into college and a moderately selective public research university.
