Chicana Scholar-Activist Testimonios on Academic Twitter

Abstract

This scholarship amplifies the testimonios of Chicana doctoral students as they learn to navigate academic Twitter. Chicanas who identify as scholar-activists and who seek faculty careers post-graduation were invited to contribute. Thirty Chicana doctoral students, across discipline and institutional types, contributed to this scholarship. Testimonios were gathered via two 60-90-minute interviews, reflective journals, and Twitter field observations. Drawing from Chicana feminist epistemologies, the researcher restoried these testimonios to make visible the raced and gendered negotiations women of color must make as we seek full participation in the ivory tower.
