Design Considerations of Competency-Based Instructional Portal to Support Teachers in Transitional Math and Competency-Based Instruction

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the usability of an online training portal (T-Math portal) aimed to provide teachers with professional development opportunities related to Transitional Math. The T-Math portal provides Micro-credentials to support K-12 teachers gain a better understanding of Transitional Math and Competency Based Instruction (CBI), so that they can implement them in their curriculums. The portal itself is a manifestation of CBI because it provided educators with the needed professional development to gain or improve skills that are needed for their jobs. Two main design features were incorporated: User Interface (UI) Design consideration and Pedagogical considerations.
