Race shifting has become profitable for white academics and “have been revealed to have spent years cosplaying as a different race- Latinx, North African'' and Black (Serpell, 2021, p.3). Therefore, this Critical Grounded-Theory study uses case-study methodology to analyze three white academics, Jessica Krug, C.V. Vitolo, and Kelly Kean Sharp, who committed ethnic and racial fraud and benefited from racial capitalism through Jugando Latino (playing Latino). These academics engaged in the practices of Jugando Latino, due to Latinidad serving as an entry point for whiteness. Further reinforcing Latinidad as a tool of colonial logic that presents Latines as raceless through mestizaje racial ideologies.
