Although community colleges serve as critical gateways for students to access higher education, the low transfer rate and completion rate needs urgent scholarly investigation. This study examines contributing factors to transfer student satisfaction at four-year universities. The study conceptualizes transfer receptive culture and proposes a robust predictive model. Findings indicate that transfer students grain a sense of belonging through academic engagement, particularly through positive interactions with faculty and study groups with peers. This study moves beyond the conventional measurements that have primary focuses on non-transfer students and challenges the deficit approach in studies of transfer students. The current study provides instrumental theoretical and practical implications for researchers, administrators, and policymakers to advance the education equity for underserved students.
