Animating Moral Undertones in Caring for Pain (Poster 37)

Abstract

This paper highlights the ethical and moral dimensions of disciplinary work in technoscience that are often framed as solely epistemic and affect-neutral. Based on an interview-focused study with physicians and caregivers, we highlight the undertones of emotional and relational work within standard clinical practices. Instances of ethical perceptions, that undergird clinical care-work, are brought forth through analysis. Further, the overall affective landscape of such microinteractions is represented through cinematic animations.
