Daoist Nothingness Philosophy, Relational Practical Consciousness, and Its Implications for Mentoring in Post-Pandemic Time

Abstract

Different from the subject logic, the Daoist nothingness follows a predicate logic. This study examines Daoist nothingness and proposes relational practical consciousness as an alternative inquiry epistemology. This relational and practical epistemology portrays the world as a complex web of relations. Human actions emulate the flow of the universe. Using a hermeneutic approach, the study examines the Daoist nothingness with regard to the positive and creative nothingness, the interdependence of being and nothing, interactive agency, and practical cultivation. It follows with a conceptualization of relational practical consciousness and implications for mentoring during the pandemic. The study summarizes with the importance of constructing an alternative framework using the Eastern Daoist nothingness epistemology to address emerging pandemic-related problems in practice.
