Abstract

The self-efficacy as faculty change agent for diversity (SE-FCA-D) scale was developed to measure faculty’s perceived capabilities in serving as change agents for diversity in institutions of higher education. Published in 2019, the SE-FCA-D scale first appeared in a nationwide survey of faculty in the 2020 administration of the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) Faculty Survey for 10 institutions in the Enhance Diversity Study (EDS), funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The purpose of this paper is to establish the measurement validity and reliability of the SE-FCA-D scale in higher education settings. Results from Classic Test Theory (CTT) explorations, factor analysis (FA), and item response theory (IRT) are presented, along with promising implications for practice.
