Abstract

International student mobility is an important part of the internationalization of higher education and has been consolidated in educational research. However, due to its dynamism and complexity, it is necessary to investigate it multidimensionally, using innovative research. This paper reports on the findings of a doctoral research that uses Nexus Analysis as a methodology to look at single events in the trajectories of international students as social actions. The methodology enabled the mapping the histories, interactions and discourses that intersect in the trajectory of one Latin American international student in a Canadian university. Data analysis demonstrates how events in larger timescales, beliefs and ways of thinking, and institutional and societal discourses influence her trajectory.
