Classroom Management in a New World: Post-COVID-19 Classroom Management Training

Abstract

The purpose of this mixed methods study was to investigate a post Covid-19 classroom management training (called the Behavior Academy) provided to teachers to ameliorate the increased behaviors students in grades pre-kindergarten to second grade exhibited. The results suggested the following: (a) the training improved aspects of each teacher’s classroom management practices, (b) common behavior issues were directly linked to the teachers’ practices, (c) the training improved aspects of the students’ brain development, (d) teachers view of their practices improved after the training, (e) minor changes in teacher practices were identified that could easily improve student behavior, and (f) one of the most common reasons for student misbehavior was the student’s need for attention.
