Crucial Elements for Effective School Leadership for Character Development and Whole-Child Education (Poster 28)

Abstract

The session includes researched-based findings about the elements crucial to lead for character development and whole child education for K-12th schools in US. The sample requirements were: Being US K-12th schools awarded as National Schools of Character, achieving academic outcomes above the state average, showing a decrease in disciplinary referrals, and the principals participating have been in the principal’s position since beginning the character educational approach. The qualitative research found that the Crucial to lead are The why and buy-in, Leading as Teamwork (organizing leadership teams of parents, teachers, students, staff, orgs. and businesses), Time (Assigning time to Whole Child Education approach), Training (All the school community), and Embracing Challenges, as leader’s life component (Developing leadership skills) for flourishing communities.
