Abstract

Whiteness pervades racialized societies like the United States of America and racialized systems within those societies like the American public education system. However, until recently, whiteness is often the least studied racial identity and epistemological frame, but one that shapes policy and practice in America. It is with a focus on whiteness and epistemology that this study situates itself and seeks to address the epistemological experiences of African American learners in America educational system, that even though more diverse than ever before still reflects a teaching corps that is still largely white.
