Students with disabling conditions are offered test accommodations. One accommodation is to permit "backtracking," which allows test-takers to review and change responses to items earlier on a test after reading later items. When using online assessments faculty can decide to permit or prohibit backtracking. The present study explored the effects of backtracking on multiple-choice quizzes taken online. Students completed 8 to 10 quizzes that allowed backtracking every other quiz, and responded to questions about test anxiety and disability status. Data were collected for approximately 150 participants from 6 different psychology classes. It is hypothesized that students will perform better when backtracking is permitted. ANOVA will be used to explore the relationships between backtracking, disability and accommodation status, class grades, and test anxiety.
