There are many reasons (both theoretical and empirically-driven) why enhanced and nurtured creativity in the classroom should bring with it an increase in equity mindsets (an orientation of fairness, justice, and resistance against bias and stereotyping). The same mechanisms that drive creativity also help students to be more accepting of people who come from different backgrounds. These include components of personality, cognition, and specific life experiences. Accordingly, this research examines the relationship between creativity and equity mindsets--an orientation toward equity--along with individual personality, demographic, and experiential factors that may mediate the relationship.
