Abstract

A patchwork funding model exists for public P-12 education in Texas, unequally funding schools and creating detrimental results for poor children ?(Knight & Olofson, 2018). ?This inequitable model results from an agglomeration of fiscal policies formed by constitutional regulations and partisan politics (?Griesinger et al., 2020). This proposed study will examine the association between the Texas school funding model (average daily attendance), attendance, and student poverty levels to better understand poverty levels association with school funding in Texas?. This study will quantitatively evaluate the average daily attendance model of funding in Texas and its association with levels of poverty. This study will leverage QuantCrit as a framework to provide context to the results of the statistical analysis.
