Fri, April 14, 2:50 to 4:20pm CDT (2:50 to 4:20pm CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower- Ballroom Level, Grand Ballroom A

Abstract

According to Starr and colleagues (2017), objects are part of individual surroundings and play a significant role in life. This study aims to explore the selected international graduate students' experiences with the inherited objects chosen. This study used evocative objects (Turkle, 2011) as the theoretical framework and employed object-oriented inquiry (Hayles, 2014). Participants' written pieces are used as the primary data sources for the study. The key categories identified from our data analysis include friendship, kindness, and special memories. In addition, this study will spotlight the critical position that the inquiry of international students is intricate and the consideration of various aspects at the individual level.
