Poster Child for Diversity and Critical Race Theory: Collective Strategizing

Abstract

This paper chronicles ongoing political attacks on my scholarship which centers equity, culturally relevant pedagogy, and African Diaspora Literacy. I provide documentation of the continuous assaults on my professional reputation by anti-Critical Race Theory and anti-Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advocates. (Mis)labeled as “the one” bringing Critical Race Theory to South Carolina, I explicate ways that I have been targeted for 1 ½ years and share collective strategizing and actions to used to ‘protect’ myself as a single entity against well-funded and highly networked right-wing political/media organizations. Implications for faculty and administration are offered.
