Session Type: Symposium
The current environmental emergency, referred to by some as the Anthropocene, sets a new requirement for the academic community to respond to diverse, human and more-than-human, ways of being and knowing. In this symposium scholars from the fields of childhood studies, human-animal studies, science education and environmental education rise up to the challenge. Together, we ask: Who is allowed to produce knowledge in scientific research? On whose terms and for whose benefit? These questions, together with reflecting on various participatory projects from ecological, multispecies and more-than-human conceptual frameworks inform a conversation on how different kinds of knowledge, human and more-than-human alike, could be regarded as such in educational research and what transformations this would bring to current scientific practices.
