Session Type: Symposium
In this symposium, a group of eight parentscholars (teachers, graduate students and/or educational researchers with school-age children who inform and motivate our work) will discuss, analyze and illustrate re-learning how to teach and learn from and alongside our children. Two primary questions will be addressed across each paper: (1) As parentscholars learning and teaching in a time of racial reckoning—how has our approach to teaching changed? (2) What specific pedagogical approaches or curricular tools have we discovered or co-constructed from/with our children to claim an alternate now?
After each paper is presented, a motherscholar and expert in the areas of both Critical Race Theory and parentscholaring will serve as the discussant.
