Session Type: Symposium
This symposium situates curriculum theorizing in the everyday practices (de Certeau, 2011) of one community of academics, namely the Curriculum Theory Project (CTP) at Louisiana State University (1995-2023). This academic institution demonstrates the continuing resilience of curriculum theory despite ongoing neo-liberal aspirations to reframe education as a technical endeavor. The practices of curriculum theorizing explored in this proposed symposium by current and former CTP faculty and students draw on the lived experiences and articulated memories of those who have participated in the project, as well as on an analysis of documents collected in LSU’s archives. This type of narrative, archival, and historical work of an institutionalized curriculum theory program is the first of its kind.
