Session Type: Symposium
Educational research, policy and practice have important roles to play in attending to the interconnectedness of violent acts against human and nonhuman communities. Interest in approaches attentive to the interrelation of human and nonhuman life (death) is growing. ‘Multispecies’ research is one such strand of scholarship, yet collective understandings of multispecies equity are still missing in education. This panel gathers representatives from environmental education, critical animal studies, critical posthumanism, and poststructuralism to seek common ground and transformative pathways in education. This session is animated by two timely questions. First, how do we understand multispecies equity across educational research and what might it look like in practice? Second, can we find collective understandings of multispecies equity to better guide educational work?
