Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this panel is to highlight the experiences, knowledge, languages, and literacies of Pre-Service Teachers of Color (PSToC) through practices of multimodal truth telling. The papers demonstrate pedagogical and methodological tools such as borderland zines, testimonios, pláticas, and mosaic narrative production. Collectively, the authors ask: (1) what are the varied experiential knowledges of PSToC and how are they created? (2) What are the healing practices that are central to knowledge production for PSToC? And (3) How can we look towards the experiences of pre-service teachers to teach us about pedagogy in teacher preparation? The papers take up these questions across different institutional contexts, with different populations of PSToC, and through a variety of modes of meaning making.
