Session Type: Symposium
Consequential Education Research was launched as AERA 2023’s overarching theme. While its focus for primary, secondary and higher education stresses the potential of education for societal change and the revaluation of ‘truth’ for the purpose of justice and equity in general(1), in the health professions the consequences of education pertain more specifically to the quality of individual and population health. A recent shift in thinking about the assessment of learners for the health professions is one toward the consequences of assessment for privileges in patient care.(2) Concepts of ‘entrustment’ and ‘Entrustable Professional Activities’ have become popular(3). They stress the importance of the responsibilities bestowed on those who have shown to be capable. This session highlights advances in this domain
