Toward Answerability in Our Work With and Study of Families and Communities of Color

Abstract
This symposium brings together educational researchers whose collective scholarship centers the educational engagement, leadership, collaboration, and partnership experiences and practices of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and Pacific Islander students, families, and communities across multiple intersections (e.g., language, disability, im/migration) and various contexts (e.g., schools, colleges of education, community spaces). We share what we are learning from these communities and the relational and methodological tensions and possibilities of our work, including our commitments to answerability in our relationships and research with (and of) communities. We also consider the potential of this work to reciprocally transform teaching, leadership, learning, and educational research and its contribution to consequential education research processes that heal, humanize, liberate, and sustain Communities of Color.
