Abstract
The Symposium focuses on increasing educators’ understanding of writing within a variety of contexts, responding to student writing in culturally sustaining ways, and valuing the complex identities of diverse writers. Each paper introduces a set of tools and practices that support preservice and practicing teachers in deepening their understanding of student writers.
