Sun, April 16, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, Floor: 3rd Floor, King Arthur Court

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

In pursuit of truth and justice, emerging research-practice partnerships (RPPs) situate problems of practice at the core of collective work and elevate authenticity as a basis for academic rigor to ensure sustainability and effectiveness (Gutiérrez & Penuel, 2014). Until recently, many systems-based RPPs have not focused on issues of race, equity, and power in education (Ishimaru et al., 2022). Theories and data analyses in RPPs seldomly converge with research on White supremacy and settler colonialism that create disparate opportunities for historically marginalized students (Ishimaru et al., 2022). As researchers, we’ve begun to engage in RPPs that attend to axiological tensions and power imbalances, as well as design learning environments and foster partnership practices that seek educational justice (Bang et al., 2016).
