Session Type: Symposium
This symposium gathers researchers at different career stages to interrogate how educational inclusion is enacted in a diversity of countries in the Global South and Global North. Drawing on various theoretical and methodological tools, the five papers included in the symposium will provide insights into two critical dimensions of analysis: on the one hand, the institutional mechanisms shaping social inclusion and coexistence in schools/universities; on the other, the lived experiences of students from different backgrounds in these educational contexts. This symposium makes a contribution by bringing studies into a conversation to critically reflect on the potentialities and limitations of improvement actions oriented at reducing educational segregation and promoting educational equity and inclusion in socioeconomically unequal national contexts.
