Session Type: Virtual Symposium
This session centers the conference theme on education research and consequential truths through the powerful framework on” opportunity gaps” produced by Milner (2012 and 2020). In his AERA video explaining the conference theme, Milner challenges the members to lead with consequential research that improves the human condition. And he calls for diversity of voices in doing so. This session brings the voices of university scholars, teachers, youth and teacher educators to explore truths, equity and justice. The research presented in the session powerfully examines and critiques the opportunity gaps and offers insights and implications for consequential research. They provide not only a scholarly review but also practical ideas that have the potential to center educational research in constructive change.
