Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander–Serving Institutions: Honoring the Past, Examining the Present, and Imaging the Future

Abstract
This year marks a decade and a half since Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) were first established by Congress in 2007. Over the past 15 years, a rapidly growing number of institutions have met eligibility requirements to become AANAPISIs, and 38 have received federal funding to support and educational advancement of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students. Through a diverse panel of AANAPISI researchers, practitioners, and policy advocates, this symposium aims to discuss this major milestone, as well as place into context AANAPISI historical origins, their present status, and to imagine the role of AANAPISIs for the future.
