Transforming Teacher Education: Policy Life Rafts as Consequential Intervention During a Time of Global Chaos

Abstract

In this proposal, four Student Experience Research Network (SERN) Fellows who are teacher education scholars discuss, analyze, and illustrate how and what we learned about policy making, and its potential to impact teacher education. We use the skills acquired during the fellowship to examine and reimagine teacher education in light of the push towards deprofessionalization, potential responses to the fallout of COVID-19, and the proliferation of anti-CRT (Critical race theory). We use this symposium as an opportunity to discuss the ails of teacher education, but also complete an activity that generates holistic and collaborative solutions that support saving and and offering a new direction for teacher education in these critical times.
