Abstract

As graduate students within education-based programs, we often have the job of preparing future teachers for our institutions or are maintaining full time jobs within education fields–while also becoming scholars in our own right. This symposium explores the education and academic lives of panelists from Florida and Iowa; in particular, how our experiences within state boards of education, K-12, higher education, and community outreach education are impacted by the political environment of our states and universities, thus impacting us as both educators and early career scholars. We also invite you to join in our conversation, sharing experiences and strategies for balancing these professional and academic aspects of our teacher lives.
